Dayton attempted rape suspect arrested.

Commissioners: Liberty County Commissioners accepted the two proposals for providing ambulance services to unincorporated areas of Liberty County during their meeting yesterday. Those two proposals were from Liberty County Emergency Medical Services and Acute Medical Services. Liberty County Attorney Wes Hinch said the bids are to remain confidential while under review and/or negotiations.

DaytonTeacher: A 30-year-old Dayton High School teacher has been arrested and charged with Improper Relationship with a student, a felony. Dayton School Superintendent Mike Kuhrt said Aaron Kyle Taylor was a first year drama teacher since last August. In February, Aaron Taylor was placed on administrative leave with pay. The relationship allegedly involved a 16-year-old female DHS student. The behavior that led to the charge is said to have taken place in the suspect’s Humble apartment. According to Dayton ISD, Aaron Taylor has been terminated as of the end of this school year.

DaytonCityCouncil: The Dayton City Council Monday night canvassed the returns of the election and declared John Johnson and Dale Brown the winners of the two open city council seats and Felix Skarpa as mayor for a second term. Afterward Mayor Skarpa named Dwight Pruitt as the new Mayor Pro Tem. In other action, Council appointed Cheryl Lawson to fill the unexpired term of Anita Brown who resigned last month.

Leggett: Pamela Leggett, the Chambers County woman charged in connection with the events that led to death of Chambers County Deputy Shane Detwiler, has pled guilty to assault with a deadly weapon. She was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
