ATV Accident: Two teenage girls injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident Saturday afternoon near Dayton were taken by Life Flight air ambulance to a Houston Hospital. Liberty County Sheriff’s Captain Ken DeFoor said five teens were riding in a two-seat ATV on C.R. 624 when the driver attempted to turn onto C.R. 6242. A preliminary investigation indicates that ATV was traveling at an unsafe speed and rolled over. Information from the scene indicates the 13-year-old driver – Ashley Ward - had a severe lower leg injury. A 14-year-old passenger – Candace Flores – lost most of one foot. Both girls were taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The other three teens on that overturned ATV were reportedly not seriously injured. The accident is being investigated by DPS troopers.
