Commissioners: Yesterday, Liberty County Commissioners voted to again transfer $212,000 from the land acquisition fund into road and bridge budget of a commissioner. This time the money went to Commissioner Precinct 4 Norman Brown. In the county’s budget, there is a special projects provision that allows each commissioner to withdraw an equal amount. To date, the total drawn from that land acquisition fund for this proposes is $636,000. The total amount in the land acquisition fund at the start of this budget year, October 1, 2012was $1.8 million.

LFD Pinning Ceremony: The Liberty Fire Department held a badge-pinning ceremony Tuesday evening to welcome two new firefighters and promote another. Assistant Chief Brian Hurst said Brad Taylor was promoted from firefighter to captain, and Anson Friar and Daniel Connevey both joined the department and received their new firefighter badges.
