File an Extension: If you are not quite ready to file your tax return, local Certified Public Accountant Byron Swaim said, be sure to file for an extension.  He said that gives the tax payer 6 more months, until October 15th, to pull together the required information and possibly find more deductions. Byron Swaim added; don’t forget to pay your estimated taxes when you file the extension to avoid penalties.

Farmers Market: Plans are under way to give local fruit and vegetable growers a chance to sell their produce at a monthly Libertyfarmers market. Liberty City Manager Gary Broz said some details are still being worked out but a date has been set for the first farmers market to be held on the grounds at LibertyCity Hall. Mr. Broz said for a $5 charge, growers can bring their fresh fruits and vegetables starting on May 4th. To find out more, contact city hall at (936) 336 3684.

Drive-One Success: LibertyHigh Schoolseniors had a good turnout Saturday for their fund-raiser to benefit Project Graduation. BJ Ford hosted a “Ford Drive One for your School” at LibertyHigh School. Robert Dunn, managing partner of BJ Ford said Ford Motor Company is donating $20 per qualified licensed driver who took a test drive. Thanks to a solid turnout, Robert Dunn said LibertyHigh Schoolseniors should get the maximum donation of $6,000.

Valley Players: The Valley Players invites the community to their production of “Someone Save My Baby, Ruth” this Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon in the Humphreys-Burson Theatre.
