Relay for Life: The 13thSouth Liberty County Relay for Life organizers say the Friday night through Saturday morning event raised at least $100,000, and more donations are still expected. That brings the total raised, just in South Liberty County since the first local event in 2001, to more than $1.1 million. These funds are used in cancer research and to help local families facing the challenges of cancer. This year’s Relay for Life was dedicated to the memory of the late James Stephenson, a long time friend and staff member of KSHN Radio, the community and Relay for Life. James died back on January 12 after a battle with bone cancer. James provided sound equipment for the event 11 of the first 12 years. This year, his children provided that service in his place. To make a contribution, call Sandra Sterling at 936-336-3716.
