DISD Pay Raises: Dayton Superintendent Mike Kuhrt said DISD staff members have not had a pay increase for three years. However, Mr. Kuhrt said trustees approved a salary increase, starting in the next budget year for both teachers and non-teaching positions as well. He said the district should maintain about three months operating capital in the schools fund balance, and right now they have about 5 months of operating funds. The salary increases will draw from that fund balance.


Rendition Form: Liberty County Appraisal District officials are reminding business owners to render their taxable property by April 15 or file an extension to avoid costly penalties. Failure to file will result in the appraisal district rendering values for your business plus a 10 % penalty. Spirit Horse: Another reminder, Spirit Horse Riding Center is holding what’s billed as its First Annual Boots, Chaps and Cowboy Hats fundraiser dance this Friday at the Elks Lodge on FM 563 in Liberty.  Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. T-Hangers: LibertyCity Manager Gary Broz said construction of the new t-hangers at the LibertyMunicipalAirportis finished and they are ready for occupancy. He said the airport now has space for 20 single engine or small twin engine aircraft. According to city officials, 10 of the 20 hangers have been rented. The Liberty City Manager said there is still room at the airport to build additional hangers later if the demand is there.


Hospital District: Negotiations between the Liberty County Hospital District and EmergencyHospitalsof Texasabout a possible emergency care facility to be built in Daytonare moving forward. Hospital District President Bruce Stratton said the board will meet on Monday April 8th. He said at that time the hospital district board will consider setting a time and location for a public workshop on the issue.
