Bus Accident-Chambers Co: A Chambers County teenager was taken by air ambulance to a Houston Hospital after his SUV rear-ended a Barbers Hill ISD bus early yesterday morning in the Beach City area. DPS Cpl Dustin Blackburn said the accident happened around 6:45 a.m. on FM 2354 near the North Point Subdivision. Cpl. Blackburn said the driver of the SUV – identified only as an eleventh-grade student at Barbers Hill High School was trapped in his vehicle. It reportedly took nearly an hour to free the teen from the wreckage. Four students from the bus were transported to San Jacinto Hospital for what was called minor injuries. The condition of the teenage driver is not known.

Jubilee Entertainment: A big draw at the annual Liberty Jubilee Celebration is the great live entertainment, provided free of charge. Friday night’s free street dance features “West of the Trinity” band followed by country recording artist Doug Stone. LISD: A transportation consultant, Mark Swackhamer, a Certified Fleet Manager, hired by Liberty ISD recommended Tuesday night at the meeting of Liberty School trustees, the district immediately replace four Carpenter brand buses deemed unsafe by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He also suggested getting on a routine purchase schedule that would update the district’s fleet by adding 11 more new buses during the next four budget years.
