E.T. Branch Awards: Liberty Masonic Lodge honored this year’s recipients of the E.T. Branch Teacher of the Year awards during a banquet last Thursday. Three of the honorees were previously recognized as E.T. Branch recipients. Lisa Goodwin was presented a plaque for her exceptional effort as a teacher at San Jacinto Elementary School. She was also honored back in 1998. Cindy Hogaboon, an honoree from ’03, was named this year from Liberty Elementary School. Margaret Hanel was on hand to get the honor from Liberty Middle School while Ronnel Wainscott, and E.T. Branch recipient from ’02, was honored again for 2013 from Liberty High School.

Tebo to State: Liberty Panther Omar Tebo has qualified for the state power lifting meet March 22 in Abilene. Tebo captured first place in the regional meet to advance. Omar Tebo is also a football standout who recently signed a college scholarship as a defensive lineman to play for the Lamar Cardinals. He is the son of Gary and Kay Tebo of Liberty.

Trinity Valley Relays: The 62nd Annual Trinity Valley Relays was held this past Friday at the Liberty High School track. Starting with results from the girls’ competition, Goose Creek finished in first place followed by the host team, the Liberty Lady Panthers. C.E. King was third with the Dayton Lady Broncos in fourth. Turning to the boys, Crosby was first followed by Galena Park and C.E. King. The Dayton Broncos took fourth in the historic 62nd Annual Trinity Valley Relays.

Spirit Horse: Spirit Horse Therapeutic Riding center is holding what’s billed as its First Annual Boots, Chaps and Cowboy Hats fundraiser dance on Friday, April 5, the Elks Lodge in Liberty. Jason West and the West of the Trinity band will provide music with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets are available at Liberty County Tack.
