However, so far, there are no contested races. Those interested in filing as a candidate have until close of business Friday to file at the respective administrative office.

That tour begins tomorrow at 4 p.m. in Neighbor’s Emergency Center, 6051 Garth Road in Baytown. From there, the meeting moves to Baytown Community Center, 2407 Market Street. There, Dayton Council and representatives from the medical facility will have discussions concerning a similar facility in Dayton. Educator Honored: Dayton Junior High History Teacher Cindy Jones has been named one of five finalists for the HEB Foods Excellence in Education Rising Star Award. That recognition goes to one elementary finalist and one secondary finalist with less than 10 years in classroom experience. As a finalist, the Dayton educator was presented $1000 plus another $1,000 for her school. Ms. Jones now competes for the Rising Star award in Austin this May. If she wins there, the prize is $5,000 from HEB to her and another $5,000 for her school in Dayton.
