New Liberty AD: Liberty ISD Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of 1990 Liberty High School graduate Chad Taylor to be the new athletic director and head football coach. The school board hired Chad Taylor during a specially called noon meeting yesterday. He is the son of Pete and Susie Taylor of Liberty. Coach Taylor must work with LaPorte ISD officials to determine his final day there, but he hopes to start in Liberty in a matter of days, not weeks.

FormerChambers CountyJailer Sentenced: A former Chambers County Sheriff’s Deputy, Gabriel Davila, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for Indecency with a Child. In October 2011, Davila was indicted on six counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and six counts of Indecency with a child. In November last year, Davila pled guilty to a single charge of Indecency with a child by exposure as part of a plea agreement. D.A. Cheryl Leick said the victim’s family agreed to the deal and the child victim was not required to testify.

Constable Indicted: Liberty County Constable Pct 1 Tim Allison has been indicted by a Harris County grand jury charged with a misdemeanor charge of official oppression. In November last year, we reported Harris County Sheriff’s Department was called to Writ Towing and Storage Service on West Montgomery Road in West Harris County. Allegedly there was a dispute between Constable Allison and an employee of the business. This indictment is apparently the result of a Harris County Sheriffs Department investigation following that incident.
