Fire: Fire destroyed a home on CR 2312 just off FM 1008 Thursday morning. According to the Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters arrived at the home around 9:30 and found the residence fully involved in flames. The Dayton,Cleveland, Hwy 321 and Kenefick Fire Departments were there to assist Tarkington. Roughly four hours later, the fire was out but the home was a total loss. The reportee was Kristal Parker who got her husband safely out of the burning home.

Drive One Total: Saturday December 1st, BJ Ford and Ford Motor Company hosted “Drive One for the Foster Children”. For every test drive of a new Ford vehicle, Ford donated $20 to Liberty County Children’s Protective Services.C.P.S. Board Treasurer John Hebert said in total, they received a check from Ford for $4,040.Mr. Hebert had nothing but praise for C.P.S. Board President Helen Green and the folks at BJ Ford.

Guidry: Dayton Council member Eliza Mae Guidry said she will not seek re-election in May. Dayton Mayor Felix Skarpa also said he won’t run for a new term. It is not known if incumbent Greg Hayman plans to file for re-election.

All State Choir: Liberty High student Paige Reed has qualified for the Texas All State Women’s Choir. LHS Choir Director Christie Bean said it is a huge honor for the high school senior. Paige Reed will be in San Antonioto the perform Feb. 16.
