Burglary Arrest: A Liberty man was arrested Monday morning on charges of Burglary of a Habitation. Liberty PD received a 911 call shortly after 11 a.m. Monday reporting a burglary in the 600 block of Maryland. Responding officers located a suspect nearby. He was detained while Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Steven Hebert issued a warrant. Liberty police say Fredman William Domain, 24, of Liberty was arrested and booked into Liberty County Jail. Judge Hebert set bail at $25,000.

Commissioners: Liberty County Commissioners held their first meeting of the year yesterday.  The oath of office for newly elected officials across the county was approved as was the deputation, oath of office for Liberty County sheriffs’ deputies. In other action, Liberty County Tax Assessor Collector Ricky Brown outlined collected property taxes and fees paid to the county.  The Tax Collector’s report showed the grand total of taxes and fees paid to Liberty County. When the books closed on 2012, the county had collected more than $24.8 million in property taxes and fees. That was an increase of more than 6.5% from the end of fiscal year 2011 to the end of fiscal year 2012.

DaytonCouncil: Dayton City Council has approved the purchase of security cameras for Daniel Park. KSHN reported thousands of dollars in copper wiring stolen from the park’s baseball complex last year. During their regular scheduled meeting Monday night, Dayton Council approved a proposal by A-1 Tel Com to install security surveillance cameras. Total cost for the project with upgrades is approximately $40,000.

Pasture Management: Both the Liberty County and Chambers County offices of Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service will offer a Pasture Management seminar and recertification training for Texas Department of Agriculture license-holders tomorrow. That course starts with registration at 8:30 a.m. in White’s Park of Anahuac. Organizers ask those attending to RSVP during business hours today to ensure a lunch. For information or reservations, call the Liberty County Agrilife office at 936-334-3230 or the Chambers County office at 409-374-2123.
