Request for Reserves: The Liberty County Sheriff’s Department is actively recruiting reserve deputies for the department’s vo9lunteer reserves. New sworn in Sheriff Bobby Rader said he wants to build up the number of reserve officers available to supplement his staff of paid deputies. He said reserve deputies are required to be certified peace officers and willing to work at least 16 hours a month. For information on the procedures and requirements for becoming a volunteer reserve deputy, call Reserve Captain Ken Defoor at (936) 336-4500.


Texans: The Houston Texans play Saturday afternoon against the Cincinnati Bengals. Pre-game starts on KSHN at 3 p.m.


Mike Little Retirement: It was full house at the retirement party for long time District Attorney Mike Little. Speaking highly about the now retired DA were members of local law enforcement, jurists and his own family. So, after 29 years and 4 months, Mike Little has officially retired. His successor, Logan Pickett was sworn in on Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon, Liberty Mayor Carl Pickett issued the oath of office to Mike Little as new City judge for Liberty.


DaytonChamber Banquet: The 12thannual Dayton Chamber of Commerce banquet is set for January 25th. Keynote speaker will be Texas State Land Commissioner – Jerry Patterson. Reservations are now being accepted. Tickets are $35 each. For details call the Dayton Chamber Office at (936) 257-2393.
