Medicine Chest Pharmacy: A popular and successful local business, Medicine Chest Pharmacy, has sold and will be consolidated with CVS Pharmacy. KSHN Radio confirmed with Liberty Medicine Chest store manager pharmacist Steven Rodger that just fewer than twenty of the medicine chest small town chain has been sold to CVS Pharmacies, a national conglomerate. Steven Rodger said all 13 of the local store employees including himself and Pharmacist Sydna Gee, will become a part of the CVS Chain. We are told that most likely the affected medicine chest stores will close the last day of this month.

LPD Seek Help: Liberty Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a man suspected in an assault and robbery Sunday night at the Panther Stop on U.S. 90 at Bowie St. According to police, an unknown black male confronted the store owner demanding money. The robber then struck the owner with a tire tool. The victim was taken to Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center for treatment. The suspect reportedly left in the store owner’s vehicle with an undetermined amount of cash. If anyone has information, they are asked to call (936) 336-5666.

Cold Weather: With the arrival of colder weather to our area, it’s time to take steps to protect plants, pipes and pets. Master Gardener Al Brandli said the best way to do that is cover them to keep the frost off and keep them well watered. As for pets, Dayton Veterinarian Dr. Luke Chachere said the main thing is to make sure outdoor pets have plenty of food and water, as well as shelter from cold winds. Experts say with exposed plumbing, those pipes should be covered. When water freezes inside a pipe it creates blockage. That causes pressure to building between the ice blockage and a closed faucet, resulting in a burst pipe. There are many kinds of insulation available. Also, letting a faucet drip can prevent a pipe from bursting. Water in those pipes may still freeze, but the open faucet still provides pressure relief in the pipe.
