Fatality Accident: A 47-year-old Rye man died Sunday following a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of FM 787 and Artesian Lake Road. According to DPS reports, Ronald Lyon was taken to Cleveland Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries about 5 hours after the wreck.

Athletic Director Search: Liberty school officials have announced the four community members who are serving on the recommendation committee for a new athletic director and head football coach. Those agreeing to serve are John Hebert Jr., Dick Lintleman, Jackie Ozan and Chris Peters. They join five district administrators in the search process. The committee will meet this Thursday with student-athletes, booster club members and Interim Athletic Director Karen Slack. Then, the group will review applications with the goal of interviewing 6 to 12 candidates in late January and recommending three to move forward. Then, the Liberty ISD superintendent and assistant superintendent will narrow the list to one finalist to recommend to the Liberty School board. If all goes according to that plan, LISD trustees will name a new athletic director by late February.
