Student Injured: Around 6 a.m. yesterday, an 11-year-old Nottingham Elementary school student was walking toward the school bus stop; when injured. That was near the intersection of CR 6021 and CR 6052, not far from County Road 602. The girl did experience serious injuries and was air lifted by Life Flight air ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.


DaytonPlay-Offs: The first round of Bi-district Playoff’s for Dayton is set. The 9-1 Broncos will meet the Nederland Bulldogs, also with a 9-1 record. That game will be played at Provost Umphrey Stadium, also known as Cardinal Stadium at Lamar University in Beaumont. Kickoff will be Saturday at 1 p.m. Tickets are $6 in advance at the ad building and campuses in Dayton at the gate all tickets are $7.


Sales Taxes: It was another positive month countywide as November sales tax payments to cities across Liberty County rose 6 % as compared to the same month last year and remain up 7.13 percent for the entire year of 2012. Comptroller Susan Combs said increased sales tax revenue continues to be led by the oil and natural gas industry; however consumer spending also drove gains in the retail trade and restaurant sectors. Collected by retailers back in September, this report reflects two month old sales numbers.


Tarkington Goes to State: The Tarkington Lady Longhorns volleyball team has advanced to the semi-finals of the state tournament for the second year in a row. That means the Lady Longhorns are one of just four Class 3-A teams remaining in the hunt for the state title. Tarkington’s first game is Friday against La Grange at either 1 or 3 o’clock, based on their placement on the tourney bracket, at the CurtisCullwellCenterin Garland.
