Veterans Day Events: In recognition of Veterans Day, which falls on Sunday, several local schools are holding events to honor the men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces. Liberty High School will honor Veterans tomorrow morning starting at 7:30 with a breakfast and reception to be followed by an assembly with students. Hardin Junior high will hold a Veterans recognition event tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. in the high school cafeteria. Veterans will also be recognized at tomorrow night’s football game between Dayton and Summer Creek in Bronco Stadium.

Jingle BellBall: The 7thAnnual Jingle Bell Ball is Saturday December 8that the Liberty Elk’s Lodge. The evening of holiday fun is to entertain physically and mentally challenged children, teens and adults as well as their families. There’s hot food, soft drinks, desserts, popcorn, a dance contest, door prizes, face painting and even a dancing snowman. Jingle Bell Ball volunteers are needed as well as financial sponsors. Lady Panthers: The Liberty Lady Panthers volleyball team has advanced to the regional semifinals of the state playoffs. Tuesday night, Liberty defeated the Orangefield Lady Bobcats in three straight games. Now, Liberty faces the West High School Lady Trojans tomorrow at 8 p.m. in the Bryan High School Gym for a Regional Semifinal match-up.

Closed for Veterans Day: Since Veteran’s Day falls on Sunday this year, the Liberty County Courthouse and municipal offices in Liberty, Dayton and Cleveland will be closed on Monday in observance of the holiday. Most banks and all post offices will also be closed. Waste Management will run as scheduled.

LibertyCityCouncil: Liberty City Council will hold their next public meeting on Monday November 12that 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. Members of administration and council will attend a Texas Municipal League gathering on Tuesday.
