J. C. Burnham: Longtime former Liberty businessman J. C. Burnham died at the age of 74 Tuesday at St. Luke’s Hospital.


Plane Crash: A long time member of Texas Equusearch and his teenage son died in a plane crash Sunday afternoon. According to the Equusearch website volunteer pilot Alan Vossler, 52 was killed in a plane crash shortly after taking off from an airport east ofHouston on Sunday. The website said one of Mr. Vossler’s twin sons was with him and also died in that crash.


Diva Night: The 5th Annual Diva Night is Thursday at the DaytonCommunity Center. Sponsored by the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, it’s for ladies only. Diva Night is described as the ultimate girl’s night out. Pre-sale tickets are $35 per person and include admission, dinner and five pamper station tickets. Blood Drive: It’s the gift of life. Each donation of blood has the potential to save three lives. That is according to Dorothy Nettles, Community Liaison with Lifeshare BloodCenter. Area residents will have the opportunity to give that gift at several blood drives this week and next. Friday from 2-6 p.m. there will be a blood drive at First BaptistChurch in Dayton. A week from today, November 7, First Baptist in Libertywill hold a blood drive from 3-7 p.m.On Thursday November 8 there will be a blood drive at FLNB Corner from 2-6 p.m. The Lifeshare Blood Coach will be at Wal-Mart in Liberty on Friday November 9 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.


DARFood Fair: The Libertad Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will have its “Holiday Frozen Food Fair” on Saturday, November 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Price Daniel Meeting room. That’s behind the Cleveland-Partlow house on Grand Avenue in Liberty.
