City Judge Candidates: The Liberty City Council met in executive session Tuesday night and interviewed applicants for the job of municipal judge. Liberty Mayor Carl Pickett said there are three applicants for the job. They are local attorney Jamie Carter, who has served as the city court prosecutor for the past few years. Wayne Sumrall is a Moss Hill area resident who previously served as Mayor of Woodbranch Village in Montgomery County. The third candidate for Liberty Municipal Judge is very well known.  Mike Little has served as Liberty County DA for many years, but decided not to seek re-election. Since that interview, City Attorney Randy Gunter has determined, according to city charter, a candidate for city judge must live within the city limits. That means Wayne Sumrall, a resident of the Moss Hill area, is not a qualified candidate.
