Market Steer: The animal that traditionally brings the highest price at the TVE Youth Livestock Auction, the Grand Champion Market Steer, was shown by repeat winner Garret Villemez of Anahuac FFA. Last year, his top steer brought $10,000. Reserve Champion went to the steer of Rhett Wilson of Barbers Hill FFA. In the Commercial Heifer category, Grand Champion honors were awarded to the heifer belonging to Katrina Swope, Anahuac Jr FFA, and the Reserve Champion was shown by Kade Goodwin, TrinityValley4H. Last year’s top heifer brought $4,000. The TVE Livestock Auction gets under way this afternoon at 12:30with auctioneer Ed Phillips.


More TVE Results: In the TVE Market Goat Show, Grand Champion honors went to the animal of Baylee Lott, Dayton FFA. The Reserve Champion Market Goat was shown by Carter Boles, Barbers Hill FFA.


Early Voting: Early Voting for the November 6 General Election starts Monday. There are local, state and national contests on the ballot, including president of the United States. Early voting will continue weekdays through November 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at four locations – the Liberty County Courthouse, Cleveland Courthouse Annex, Hardin City Hall and Dayton Community Center. Football: The undefeated Dayton Broncos host the winless New Caney Porter Spartans tonight. That District 19-4A contest kicks off at 7. The Liberty Panthers welcome the Cleveland Indians in a key District 22-3A game. That one gets under way at 7:30 in Memorial Stadium. The Hardin Hornets are also at home facing Woodville. Start time 7:30. Both Barbers Hill and Hull-Daisetta have an open week on their football schedules.
