E.B. Baker Award: During Wednesday’s annual appreciation dinner for the 300 or so volunteers, TVE Board of Directors announced Lynn Ayers of Liberty is this year’s recipient of the E.B. Baker Award recognizing her as the top volunteer for 2012. The award is named in honor of the late E.B. Baker and his commitment to the Trinity Valley Exposition. As part of the honor Mrs. Ayers was presented a pair of boots and a purse.

Kidfish: Another reminder, the always popular Kidfish is tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon at Liberty Municipal Park. Kids 16 and under are welcome to fish the well stocked Liberty Park pond, with fishing gear provided free on a first come, first serve basis. If preferred, kids can bring their own gear. While not required, children can also raise financial support prior to the event to help keep Kidfish going. Prizes will be awarded to the top five fundraisers as well as kids in each age group who catch the two longest fish.

Shred It: The City of Liberty will soon offer another opportunity to foil identity thieves and have your sensitive documents commercially shredded free of charge. The next free “Shred it and Forget it” event is a week from tomorrow, October 20 from 9 a.m. to noon or until the truck fills up in the Liberty City Hall parking lot. It’s free and open to everyone, not just Liberty citizens. For more information, call Liberty City Hall at (936) 336-3684.

100 Club: One great way to take part in the annual Trinity Valley Exposition Youth Livestock Auction is as a member of the TVE 100 Club. For years now, the 100 club members have been pooling their resources in support of the kids exhibiting animals at the livestock show. The club is involved in the big auction Friday afternoon as well as in the Saturday morning freezer sale. The 100 Club’s Brian Reynolds said one tax-deductible donation of $100 is enough to join the group. 100 Club registration forms are available at the fairgrounds office on FM 563 south of Hwy 90 in Liberty or call (936) 334-4825.

Obituaries: Dorothy Elizabeth Vann, 80 of Cleveland. Services tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.
