Liberty Police Station: When Liberty City Council meets tomorrow night at 6, City Manager Gary Broz plans to recommend they accept the design plans and then call for bids to build the long planned for Liberty Police Station. If approved, the new $2.2 million station will be erected on Lakeland Drive next to the fire station.  The old station was destroyed during Hurricane Ike in Sept. 2008, and the police have been located in a leased modular building behind the fire station since then.  The new building would be funded half through certificates of obligation and the balance through a federal disaster grant.


Football Changes: There are a few changes in our sports coverage this week. Tonight’s primetime Monday night football is between the undefeated Houston Texans and the New York Jets.  Pre-game starts at 7:15 p.m., kickoff is 7:30.  We will also have a Thursday night broadcast for the Dayton Broncos when they go on the road to play the Humble Wildcats.  That game kicks off at 7 p.m. and can be heard on KSHN and also at  Because the Broncos play on Thursday, this week’s Coaches interviews will air at 6 p.m. Thursday night rather than Friday. Also, the University of Texas Longhorns meet the Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday morning.  Our coverage of the game will begin immediately following our annual coverage of the TVE Baby Parade. Kickoff is at 11a.m.


Columbus Day: It’s Columbus Day. All banks and post offices are closed for this federal holiday. However, all city and county offices are open regular hours. Liberty, Dayton, & Cleveland
Waste Management garbage pickup is unchanged.


Football Recap: Friday night the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats downed the Galveston-O’Connell 54-20. It was Anahuac, 28 Hardin, 14. The Liberty Panthers fell to Huffman Hargraves, 62-13. Barbers Hill Eagles won their homecoming 42-0 over Humble. The Dayton Broncos took their homecoming against the Kingwood Park Panthers 35-13, remaining undefeated on the season. DHS Senior Alexis Bossett is Homecoming Queen.


Bridgehaven Clay Shoot: The 2nd Annual Sporting Clay Shoot benefiting the Bridgehaven Children’s Advocacy Center in this Saturday at the Clay Mound Sporting Center in Liberty.  Check in time is at 8 a.m. and shooting starts at 9 a.m.
