Trinity River Cabins: After being issued a cease and desist order and some 27 citations for lack of property permitting and planning by the City of Liberty, the owners of Trinity River Cabins along the west bank of the Trinity River have moved all but 2 of the small 12x27 cabins. Liberty City Manager Gary Broz said now the owners can start the process of submitting the proper plans and applying for permits.

Principal Change: A top administrator at Hardin School District has accepted a similar position in the Tarkington ISD. Hardin Elementary School Principal Silas Hare is the new principal at Tarkington Primary School. He succeeds Brandy Strolberg, who left Tarkington to become the new principal at Kimmie Brown Elementary in Dayton. Hardin ISD trustees have named Lynn Strurrock, a retired principal at Dayton’s Richter Elementary, to serve as interim principal at their elementary campus through the end of this school year.

Tarkington Roundup: The Tarkington community will celebrate the 10th Annual Tarkington Roundup on Saturday at the Tarkington Middle School on FM 163. Student foundation board member Mollie Lambert said the activities get under way at 9:30 a.m. and include food, fun and games. For information, call the Tarkington Middle School at (281) 592-5243.

DHS Project Graduation: BJ Ford hosted a “Ford Drive One for Your School” fund-raising event Saturday to raise funds for Dayton High School’s Project Graduation. Robert Dunn, co-owner of BJ Ford in Liberty, said once Ford Motor Company verifies all of the information from Saturday’s event, Project Graduation should receive a donation between $6,000 and $8,000. DHS Principal Travis Young expressed his gratitude to BJ Ford, Ford Motor Company and everyone in the community who came out Saturday to support the Senior Class of 2013.
