flags across liberty news story 02.13.10 do you want to display your patriotism and at the same time support local service work? we’ve been telling about this for years - liberty lions club is renewing and signing up new subscribers for its popular ‘flags across liberty’ program. for a donation of $35, liberty lions will place an american flag at the front of a home, business or gravesite on six days throughout the year. those special occasions begin MONDAY with president’s day and continue throughout the year with memorial day, flag day, labor day, independence day and veterans day. a discount offer will get six flags placed on each occasion for $175. liberty lions club uses the money from the flags across liberty program to provide scholarships for local students - $22,000 last year alone. they also give eye glasses for disadvantaged children as well as financial assistance to spirit of sharing, boys scouts of america, children’s protective services and the rainbow room. current subscribers to the flags across liberty program should have already received a reminder it’s time to renew. new subscribers who want a flag placed in front of a home, business or gravesite - on those six special days - should contact one of the following liberty lions - JODY REGEN AT 346-1029, david leonard at 336-8841, OR r.b. mcdonald at 336-7311. the cost is $35 for one flag or $175 for six flags on each of the six holidays, STARtING MONDAY WITH PRESIDENT’S DAY. club members both post the colors and retrieve them. it is also a nice gift for a friend or relative. the hardin lions club offers a similar program in that area, and the dayton chamber of commerce does likewise in that city.
