entergy costs 02.25.10

ENTERGY TEXAS CUSTOMERS WILL SOON see AN INCREASE IN THEIR UTILITY BILLS. BEGINNING IN MARCH, THE COMPANY REPORTS THE average 1,000 kilowatt-hour monthly bill WILL JUMP by $6.94 as the result of an increase in the company’s fixed fuel factor. HOW WILL THAT AFFECT THE CUSTOMER? March bills - which WILL include the last of a three-month fuel cost refund - will rise 8.5 PERCENT from the January-February average of $81.70 to $88.64. HOWEVER, IN APRIL, WHEN THE FUEL COST REFUND IS NO LONGER APPLIED, company OFFICIALS EXPECT THE AVERAGE BILL WILL JUMP TO $118.45. A PRESS RELEASE FROM ENTERGY SAYS The fixed fuel factor is set twice a year based on market prices of fuel for the first two weeks of February and again in August. The factor is then reflected on customer bills BEGINNING in March and September. ACCORDING TO ENTERGY OFFICIALS, THE COMPANY makes no profit on fuel costs SINCE All fuel costs are pass-through charges set according to a formula approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas. AGAIN, BECAUSE OF RISING FUEL COSTS, ENTERGY TEXAS CUSTOMERS WILL SEE AN INCREASE ON THEIR UTILITY BILLS BEGINNING IN MARCH.
