champion lake closed

the trinity river national wildlife refuge has temporarily closed its popular champion lake public use area because of flooding. with recent rains and an increase in the release at the livingston dam, the lake’s water level is now above the decking on the lake’s pier. according to information from refuge manager stuart marcus, champion lake will reopen when the water level drops below that decking. champion lake is located on county road 417 off of fm 1409 – about ten miles south of u.s. 90 in dayton. repeating, because of flooding, the trinity river national wildlife refuge has TEMPORARILY closed champion lake to public use.
