hardin 7-on-7 news story 07.07.10 (wednesday) the hardin HORNETS 7-on-7 football team has once again qualified for the state tournament. coach larry haynes said it is the fourth straight year his hardin squad has earned their way into the state tourney in college station. "audio" coach haynes said among this year’s hornet standouts is wide receiver marquis james who is recognized by dave campbell’s 2010 texas football magazine as one of the top talents in class 2a. "audio" the hardin hornets begin play at the 7-on-7 state tournament tomorrow afternoon in college station. they will play three games tomorrow to determine seeding for bracket play, and that begins friday. again, this is the fourth straight year the hardin HORNETS 7-on-7 football team has qualified for a spot at the state tourney.
BURNHAM CLASSIC LOCAL NEWS 07.07.10 THe 21st annual burnham classic golf tournament is coming up august 6, 7 and 8 at magnolia ridge country club. ITS ONE OF THE GREAT LOCAL EVENTS FOR GOLFERS and FOR THOSE WHO simply ENJOY THE SOCIAL EVENT while supporting THE WONDERFUL KIDS WHO BENEFIT FROM IT. aLWAYS SPONSORED BY THE BURNHAM FAMILY AND BJ FORD, this annual event BENEFITS THE PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED AND MENTALLY CHALLENGED OF LIBERTY COUNTY served by THE TRI-COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH MENTAL RETARDATION SERVICES. this year’s BURNHAM classic will also honor the memory of the late rick humber. he volunteered to cook the barbecue for each of the past 20 years of the tourney. The burnham classic will start friday night, august 6, with a grilled chicken dinner and special entertainment. the golf tournament starts on Saturday morning, august 7, with lunch served between the morning and afternoon flights. then, there is a barbecue dinner that august evening. play resumes the next morning with hamburgers served for lunch and chicken legs served during the afternoon. the two-man, scramble-STYLE golf tournament is limited to the first 80 teams to sign up. entry is $450 for a team of two. that includes green fees, cart, plus all the meals for the players and their spouses. cash prizes are awarded to winning teams in five flights. there also is a way for non-golfers and businesses to participate. hole sponsorships are available for $200. this includes signage on the course plus all the social FESTIVITIES and food for two people. in addition, individual sponsorships are $100, and that includes admission to all the activities other than golf. repeating, the 21st annual burnham classic is august 6-8 at MAGNOLIA ridge country club to benefit kids through tri-county mhmr. golfers can signup at magnolia ridge and bj ford or by calling bruce burnham at 336-2215. to become a burnham classic sponsor, call kathleen burnham at 336-7135. local arrested in beaumont news story 07.07.10 (wednesday) a raywood teenager is one of four people arrested tuesday by beaumont police for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Evading Arrest. around 2:30 a.m. yesterday, Beaumont officers were dispatched to a business in the 5200 block of College Street in reference to a report of theft of metals in progress. According to a Beaumont pd press release, officers arrived to find four suspects inside the business' fence. Police say all four men attempted to run, but three were arrested inside of the fenced-in area. One suspect climbed over the fence and ran several blocks away. a K-9 officer located the suspect under a house a short time later. Among those charged in beaumont with engaging in criminal activity and evading arrest is 19-year-old raywood resident tydius terreal mouton. The other three suspects – ages 24 through 35 – are residents of Houston. All four were booked into the Jefferson county jail early yesterday morning.
