kshn has reported 10.2 inches of rain for the first 25 days of july. commissioner brown said the continual, almost daily MOISTURE in july has been a problem, especially on these six roads. the precinct 4 COMMISSIONER said he didn’t care where the money came from, he just needs the funds to fix the problem so he isn’t forced to close these roadways before school starts next month.

liberty county commissioners voted 3-1 to transfer $265,000 to fund those road repairs in precinct 4. they will then decide at a future meeting from which account the money will be transferred. in a related matter, county auditor harold seay told commissioners tuesday he expects the road and bridge fund balance to be $825,000 at the end of this fiscal year on september 30. county policy calls for a 2-month reserve in that road and bridge fund balance. this year’s budget allocated a total of $6.835 million for the four precinct’s road and bridge accounts. that mean’s the accompanying fund balance should be $1.14 million or about $314,000 higher than what is predicted come SEPTEMBER.
