local author news story 08.04.10 a dayton woman will become a published author this coming monday. that is the official release date of a novel WRITTEN by amber curtis. the title of her work is "What fresh hell is this". Amber describes her book as a paranormal romance full of vampires, SHAPE-SHIFTERS, SORCERESSES, and magic set in SOUTHeast texas. according to the dayton RESIDENT, there is a SLIGHT twist that makes the book stand out against other vampire novels. her lead character has CEREBRAL PALSY. amber curtis said she drew on her own personal experience with that physical condition to write her first book. "audio" amber curtis elaborated on her novel’s main character – ainsley goodwin. "audio" the dayton writer said adding levity to the book was just a matter of drawing on her own life’s experience. "audio" amber curtis attended woodrow wilson junior high and dayton high school before being HOME-SCHOOLED DURING 10th through 12th grades. she is married to matt curtis and the couple has two children. her parent’s are dayton residents tangie and louis harclerode (har-cluh-rode). again, it’s a romance novel – written by dayton resident amber curtis and featuring the world of vampires – and is set for release this coming monday. that novel - "what fresh hell is this" - can be purchased at www.pulishamerica.net or through most book retailers. silas parks sentencing news story 08.05.10 an idaho judge has sentenced silas parks to 40 years in prison - the maximum allowed under that state’s law. silas parks is the man who pled guilty earlier this year to two counts of manslaughter for the death of his wife, DAYTON NATIVE SARAH SHEFFIELD PARKS, and their unborn child. LATAH COUNTY PROSECUTOR BILL THOMPSON told kshn mr. parks must serve at least 20 years before being considered for parole. "audio" kshn has reported SINCE LAST June ON THE DEATH of well-known 28-year-old dayton native, sarah sheffield parks, in moscow, idaho. then came the arrest of her husband, silas parks, on murder charges. the body of sarah parks was found among the ashes of a moscow, IDAHO, apartment fire back on june 24, 2009, but a subsequent autopsy showed the pregnant woman actually was dead before that fire. ONE WEEK LATER, on july 1, silas parks was jailed on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson. later, he pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter. the idaho prosecutor said member’s of sarah’s family were present during tuesday’s sentencing to tell the idaho district judge – jeff brudie – how the dayton natives death had impacted their lives. "audio’ bill thompson said he was pleased with the judge’s decision to sentence silas park to the MAXIMUM allowed under idaho law. "audio" the idaho prosecutor said silas parks, who has been free on bond, was taken into custody at tuesday’s sentencing. "audio" sarah sheffield PARKS graduated from dayton high school in 1998 and then from stephen f. austin UNIVERSITY. at the time of her deatH, SHE WAS expecting her first CHILD AND was teaching school IN MOSCOW, IDAHO. her husband, silas parks, has since pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter and one count of first-degree arson. now, he has been sentenced to 40 years in prison on those charges and must serve a MINIMUM of 20 years before being considered for parole. |
